Info Center Customization

Postby Richard_Levkoy » Wed Nov 28, 2012 3:58 pm

In the Chart of Accounts section in the Info Center I added a field to the General Tab that is labeled "Employee" and the purpose is to assign a General Ledger account to an employee and allow me to report on accounts based on who has responsibility for it. I was able to add the label and field but do not know how to have the field pull from the Employee List. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You can't run any general ledger report from an employee report. YOu can only run general ledger information from general ledger reports.

So, you can run any number of GL reports, and then sort by that custom field.

Reporting is one of my areas of expertise in Deltek Vision. If I can assist you or your firm please contact me direct via E-mail or phone anytime...

OK, so I cannot pull from the system employee list. I won't waste my time trying to do that. What I did discover is that I can create a custom field on the General tab of the Account Info Center record, and in that field type an employee name. Then I can go to Reporting, General Ledger and choose the Statement of Income. Then under Selection column, I can have the report search on Employee and specify the employee in the Search List column. I then get a report of the account activity assigned to this employee.

Now, the only thing left that I would like to do is create manually a table that the Employee field can use as a drop down list. Do you know if that is possible to do somewhere?

Yes, same place you created a custom field. Instead of a "text" field, use a lookup that points to employees.

Bingo. This now works perfectly. I can print out expense account activity from a P&L Statement for an employee in my list and it will just show him or her the accounts assigned to them. This is a great budget review tool.

Thanks for your help.
