Business Card Scanner

Postby karencollyer » Fri Nov 14, 2008 1:56 pm

We are considering buying a business card scanner so that we may scan cards, format the data in a text file (.csv, etc.) and then use the Import Utility in Vision to upload the data. Is anyone out there using a card scanner in this way, have recommendations about card scanners, or any warnings about NOT using them to import data into Vision?

We do something similar although, I would really evaluate how much of this data you want to stick into Vision. We scan cards into Outlook and export from Outlook into a txt format and import that into Vision. When we started this I realized that our Business Development/Marketing people wanted to import all business cards that they gathered at conferences and other events. To me, it seemed like we might be stuffing our database with information that could possibly never be acted on. So I asked that we organize the scanned buisness cards outside of Vision until we get a "hit" (after a mailing or some other marketing campaign) from the information and then we can carry that over to Vision as a lead.

I use to collect all business cards on iPhone because it is so easy to collect, find and use any contact at any time.
You can access the contacts everywhere without Internet connection by using CardFila for Mobile (iPhone or Android phones). I also can do this on Android, computer, laptop. Capture fast and simple operation (taken ~ 200 cards/10 minutes). Capture any where by mobile phone
