Parking Lot Items:

Q: Can you use manually calculated fields or custom fields in with Analysis Cubes?

A: Custom fields in Vision cannot be included in Analysis Cubes reports (the data warehouse and Cubes are formulated using the standard fields in the database to allow for multiple use scenarios). As for calculated fields in Excel, you can run calculations based on the values presented in the Pivot Table, but be aware that a movement of the data may cause your calculation to be modified and unfortunately changed. The ability to expand and collapse groups is one of the benefits of using Deltek analysis cubes, but this creates an issue when trying to hard code formulas based on cell’s locations unless you lock the spreadsheet.

Q: When key converting a project from a particular date, how can you rectify the inconsistencies between the Analysis Cubes report and the Vision database?

A: I will look further into this, but the cube will show the reflection of what the new Project number/organization is. By doing so it is behaving as it was designed to behave, and conforming to how the key conversion was run. I’ll let you know if I find any contrary information.

The presentaion on Analysis Cubes was recorded in WebEx. You will need the ARF WebEx player to view the file, available at https://jewellassociates.webex.com/clie ... player.msi
