Merging Project Plans

Postby goblue » Fri Nov 30, 2012 11:50 am

Is there a way that I can merge two or more plans into one plan? They would be additional phases to a main project. They are separate in project because of different contracting vehicles. Thanks

Yes, you can do this. See below:
When using the Create Plan from Existing Project in the Planning toolbar > New, this enables the Project information selected to be brought into and created into a plan with all the information selected. There is also a Merge Plan feature. This enables a plan to be selected and merge an existing plan with the plan created from a project.

All this is doing is taking the set up of the above Project Information and creating the plan and then at the bottom of the first Plan then the information and structure starts for the merged plan. So the merged Plan will append the information from an existing plan to the bottom of the new plan being created from the project. The merge plan will not merge and intermingle the information from the Project being created into a Plan.
The checkbox to Copy Plan Budget is determining whether or not to include any budgeted/Planned information brought in for the merged plan.
