Get Vision Logged In Username in SSRS 2005

Postby tomysmile » Tue Dec 22, 2009 5:07 am

Hi,

This is a nice forum, i gain a lot of knowledge for Vision in here, but now i have this question.
I received some requirements in Vision 5.0 and 6.1 to display a report that contain the vision logged in username. I know there is a global variable in SSRS for UserID, but that is for windows user login not the vision username.

Is there any chance for me to get this information using either web services or any custom methods ?

Thanks for any help

Tomy

I believe the same question was posted back in November: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=295&p=1010&hilit=username#p1010

Unfortunately, I haven't seen an answer.

Hi,

It turns out in VIsion 6.1 we can use some parameter provided by vision to get the logged in username.
check this link viewtopic.php?f=9&t=274
and for passing parameter in SSRS via url check this link http://www.mssqltips.com/tip.asp?tip=1336
by combining both, then you can get the vision logged in username in SSRS.

cheers

Even worse, that global variable returns the User id of the report server you are running report services on.

My use of this tested great on my personal development machine, but turned into a joke when deployed.

Looks like you have to order a snippet of custom code from Deltek.
