Custom reports not showing in configuration

Postby crkConsultant » Thu Dec 03, 2009 12:26 pm

I was wondering if anyone else had run into this issue with custom reports uploaded to 6.1. I created some reports (not using the model) and uploaded them into Vision. They are there in the reporting module and they run just fine. But the last report I uploaded has a parameter, and when I went into Configuration > General > Custom Report Options to create the parameter in Vision I saw that none of my uploaded reports are on the reportname dropdown list. Am I missing a step?

You have to use the templates supplied by Deltek (in the Reports folder) if you want to hook the parameters up. The custom report function sends in some default parameters before sending in your defined ones and if there's no counterpart for that in the report it will fail.

When you use the templates, all is set up for you

PS: and all your params have to start with @cust...

If you don't want to redo the entire report, you might get away with cut and pasting the custom section of a template rdl file into your current rdl file.

Several times, I've created reports using the "Wizard" which Deltek doesn't recommend. Then I simply massage the rdl file and no problems.

Just use one of the templates from Deltek to see where the custom portion goes.

I am hoping that this has been resolved in the past 5 years. I created two new custom reports WITHOUT using the templates in Report Builder 2.0. I loaded them into Vision, we are on version 7.2, but I don't see them under Configuration...Custom Report Options. I tried getting on a chat with some yahoo on the Deltek Support site and he had no idea what I was talking about.

Does anyone have an update on this? Thank you in advance for your help.

Your custom reports have to be in a specific folder on your server, especially in 7.2. The folder name must correspond with the type of report it is (i.e. Project). The path would then be something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Deltek\Vision\Reports\Custom\My Reports\Project
where C: is your server.

Hope this helps. I think also the My Reports folder name can be different too, but I haven't played with it in a while.
