I had to completely rebuild, the motherboard fried. So the report server is configured as shown on the attached screenshot.

I just got a chance to try the external setup and test out my theory. Both the Web Server and Report Server have to be reachable from the outside for Vision to work properly. In your Weblink setup, you have an external IP address for your Web Server but an internal address for your Report Server. External computers will not be able to find "inform-server3". You need to configure the Report Server field with an IP address that is accessible to external computers. The Actuate port also has to be mapped to the Report Server as well.

well the report server wouldn't work any other way. What i ended up doing was creating a unique FQDN and set our DNS up to look for that unique name inside or outside of the network. Now this required some changes to our router too but it works!

Yes, that or separate database configurations for internal and external would work.
