I have just recently started doing the same thing. I discovered a free program called Wink that works very similar to Camtasia. It's really powerful and handles all the functionality that I need. I've only had time to work on a "Filling out your timesheet" video though. I'm very impressed with the number of videos that you've recorded. I hope to have as board a spectrum of training materials available one day. Maybe when I get mine going we could work out some kind of "sharing" program. :)

Training suggestions: Benefit Hours, Activities, CRM, Planning (if you have it), maybe even a video taking someone through all stages of a project from promo, through working and close for those interested.

I also have a couple of questions:

Who is the Workflow video directed at?

What does the Google training video refer to?

The workflow video is directed at anyone that wants to watch, but I labeled it Advanced because I realize not many people will understand what it is about or care to know. It goes into the two broad types of workflows, user initiated and scheduled. Then it gives examples of six workflow types we use in our company and shows them in action.

The Google video refers to data collection. For instance, only about 20% of our clients have websites in the database. The video shows people how to search for a client in google and verify that the web address is the correct one for that client. We also have several description-type fields that aren't filled in. As soom as we made these fields required, we got a lot of push-back from the admin staff not knowing how to fill them in. 90% of the time, looking at the client's website gives you the information you need.

I'd be happy to share some videos. My boss suggested selling the videos at insight, but ours are pretty much tailored to our company.

I think I will take some of your ideas and run with them.

Yeah, I could see how the customization of each Vision implementation would make marketing that type of training video somewhat difficult. However, it probably wouldn't be hard to use some as a core develop custom ones for customers. Although, it seems that would be more of a service than software and who has time for that. I thought about doing something similar actually but I barely have time in the day to accomplish all of my own tasks. :)

I thought the Google training video might be something along those lines. We have a couple of employees that are good about fleshing that kind of information out for us but we don't require it. The workflow idea is great, I'm forever explaining the possibilities of what the workflow system can do so our management is aware of the potential.

I use Camtasia also and it works really well. I used to do a web cast every other week for project managers, mainly on the Project Info center and project review. I was able to record it, and now it's "on demand" for new PMs. I also have time and expense, and I just finished up the series on Opportunities. Entering, reporting and converting to a project. You have an impressive library of videos. Hopefully I'll get there someday!

Steph,
You said that you do a webcast. How do you distribute it?

I've been posting to our company's intranet, but finding that PMs aren't watching the videos. (Maybe I need to spice them up a little...)

I made a little asp page that writes to a database at the end of my videos so I can play "Big Brother" and track who has watched them.

Sorry David - I just saw this today! We used to do web casts, that no one paid attention to, which is why we went with the videos. Currently I don't have a way to tell if anyone is watching them or not, but I like Gerald's idea! I'm going to discuss with IT.
